The Center for Humane and Ethical Medical Care (CHEC&radic;) has been studying and promoting the use of Advance Healthcare Directives (ADs) for many years. We have found that an AD is the best method we have to ensure that our choices regarding medical care are known while we are still physically and mentally able to make such decisions, and to provide a substitute decision maker when we are not.
