Interested in Volunteering?

  • Attend training session to become a trainer in the area of Advance Directives for use with organizations you belong to, social groups, business or labor organizations.

  • Assist with office work, mailings, telephone etc.

  • Train in visiting end-of-life patients in hospital, nursing homes, or patient’s homes. Learn to provide some psychological and spiritual support, a friendly voice and a warm touch for people who have no such support from anyone else.

  • Train to provide psychosocial/spiritual groups (10-12 residents) for lonely residents in local nursing homes.

Volunteer News

  • Our “End-of-Life” volunteers (officially called “Support Volunteers”) are working in the Palliative Care Unit at SM-UCLA. Recently they have expanded their area to Intensive Care and will soon be involved in Nursing Home psychosocial/spiritual groups. Dr. Rivin has recently talked to these volunteers individually and would be pleased to have them on his team, “caring for me, my family, or my patients.” We will probably begin another training course next year. Would you like to do a meaningful and necessary job with great satisfaction to yourself?

  • Volunteer in local nursing home, continue to provide psychosocial group for residents for the second year.

  • Volunteers are needed to provide more psychosocial groups.
